I certainly do remember, Guz.
I'm working with someone trying to get this cinema in Liverpool Listed but EH have already said NO twice.
There's only about 6 cinemas from 1910 with their exteriors intact in the whole country, but EH will only List them if the interiors are intact!
It's a ludicrous situation, because who is going to see the interiors anyway!

That is ridiculas and i think that is disgusting! who is incharge of EH? they need a kick up the bum! I think Lord Street as a whole should be listed so none of the remaining buildings are demolished... but in true Southport style, it will disapear overnight by a "mystery fire"...

Nice houses - just look in the wrong place
A friend of mine owns one of those houses and lets it out.

Fabulous art deco house...what's its story?
I just read through this thread and was surprised not to see this house mentioned. I assume it is still there? I have always wondered about its history and I believe it was even used in the ITV Poirot series with David Suchet. It is opposite the more famous ROUND HOUSE, another art deco jewel. How these have survived given the wholesale destruction of Birkdale is amazing...!

Alan Hanson lives in that house now but it used to belong to Arthur Maiden the advertising tycoon. You used to see the large hordings with a "Maiden" sign on the bottom !
