    Question Southport Corporation

Saw this relic on the promenade today......

This coat of arms differs from that I seem to remember on the side of the buses. Does anyone know why?

    Southport Crest

    Flyp,
Should there be a coronet above the wavy bit and below the cross with the snake wrapped around it.

    Question

Pedoja - this is not a quiz - I am genuinely mystified about this. I'm sure that on the buses the shield was divided into 4 sections and that one of those sections had a sailing boat in it. I don't recall seeing a depiction of a lifeboat.

    Unhappy Coat of Arms

I wasn't being flippant Flyp I genuinely think that it should have a coronet thingy incorporated in it.
I found this Coat of Arms in a book that I have.

Also below is a pic of the Carpet Gardens that we used to have in Hesketh Park. Looking at the size of my boys this must be circa 1972

The flower bed looks more like what used to be on the side of the buses - has anyone got a photo of the side of an old Southport bus? The intersting question is what is the heraldic status of the Southport coat of arms - is it properly registered and standardised?

    when

when was that pedoja ie the last true southport busses.

NOT the ones they painted creamy colour a few years ago by Merseyside Passenger Transpost Executive, suggesting we now had Southport busses again!

So the corporation Electricity Department used a different coat of arms to the buses (I prefer the bus version).

Pedoja- what was the context in which the coat of arms was being used in your book? That one is different to the other two !! Will the real coat of arms please stand up

This is one of differing cards I have. I think this is about 1905.
