    winter of 63

Listening to "life in a northern town " for the first time in a while got me thinking of that winter . I recall the sea freezing that year and lots of snow . Any one have any memories ?

I was at the High School & can remember we STILL had to have double hockey first lesson Monday morning in all the ice & snow! PE teachers were sadists.....

I remember going to the Floral Hall on Boxing Day dancing to the Teenbeats with my mate Wendy and everywhere was covered in snow and ice. When we went back to school after Christmas I.e. The High School we were allowed to wear our ankle boots to school instead of our regulation shoes and we thought we were so cool!!!!

We lived in Moss Road and I remember the long walk to Bury Road school and back every day. I can remember the snow piled high against the garden walls in Stamford Road and the cold, God it was so cold in short trousers.

WAs that the year it started snowing on Boxing Day? I can recall making slides out of the tire tracts in the snow down Salisbury street, going back inside at home freezing cold and wet, big coal fire to keep us warm. I'm sure I got chillblains that year (you never hear of them now).

Hi Kanuk - longtime no see! Hi to Annie too x

It was Sue Ellen. What number Salisbury St did you live? My husband lived at 41. He would have been 10/11 at the time.

Yes I am! Trying to work out who you are..... Remember the Edmondsons, Jacksons & Edgerleys. Brian is not helping, his memory is worse than mine!

We lived next door to the Edmondsons, we moved out of Salisbury street to Birkdale about 1968. I'll private message you my name.

I remember 1963 ! Our house was being built in Ainsdale but it was late due to the bad weather so we moved into an apartment in Lulworth Road until it was ready !
