I have dined at Finos with a group of friends for a large birthday party, with my boyfriend as a romantic meal and have dined with my dad as a fathers day present. Each time service was quick and extremely hospitable. The tapas was amazing, interesting and full of flavours. The sangria (dont miss out on that) i thought complimented the tapas extremely well : ). I absolutly recommend this to anyone who wants to try tapas or something a bit different.

I came here for a birthday. I couldn't be bothered, I didn't want to go, and I wasn't particularly hungry.

However the moment I tasted the food I was blown away. Food this good doesn't belong in Southport. In fact I'm sure there's a tunnel to Spain in the kitchen and food is sent up it.

We all tried some of each other's dishes. All were an excellent standard with picture perfect presentation. This was a true culinary surprise.

I do have some "constructive" comments however:-

-The service was poor, and slow. Though pleasant. the lad serving us was clearly no professional, he was certainly eager to please, and that was what saved him, had he been anything less would have complained about the long waits we had to be seated; to have our orders taken; and to attract his attention to order more drinks and ask for the bill.

-My other comment is on the exterior. The façade has no warmth about it. The steel and glass exterior does not help one's first impression of the place and shows nothing of the passion and artistry evident in the food.

These two criticisms, particularly the former, can spoil a visit to a new restaurant, but the the food I tasted at Fino's was so good that my overriding memory is of an excellent meal; and I eagerly await an excuse to eat there again.

We were staying one night at the Ramada Hotel on the promenade and we did an online search for a good restaurant. Finos at the Waterfront was well reviewed on Tripadvisor and was next to the hotel. It was the day of the storms that lashed the north west of England and the promenade was very wet and windy. Not surprisingly the restaurant was very quiet for a summer’s Friday evening.

We telephoned to reserve a table and we were warmly welcomed upon our arrival and took a table near the kitchen so that we had warmth and some activity around us, we like to be able to “people watch”! I had checked in to Finos on Foursquare.com and was rewarded with a free cocktail which was generously upgraded to a complimentary Spanish Margarita.

For drinks we also had the red Sangria which was particularly good when topped up with Cava. Our tapas included Patatas Bravas, Sweet Potato Fries, Goats Cheese, Chicken Livers, Albondigas (meat balls), Poco Chorizo, Hake Bites and Garlic Mushrooms. Everything was excellent and well presented. For deserts we had Chocolate Mousse and a Cheese Board, I was particularly impressed by the choice and presentation of the three cheeses – Mahon, Manchego and Idiazabal – with a very dry sherry and proper cheese biscuits; I will upload a photo if possible! We had a notable liquor with the mousse – Pacharan Zoco – which was a big hit since we are a fan of cherry liquors, this was actually made from sloe berries and is strongly recommended with desserts.

Overall this was an excellent experience and good value.

Went to fino's for the first time with my fiancé last night and I fell in love with the place. The staff were brilliant and really friendly. The cocktails are very nice, not watered down like other places in southport. I tried licor 43 with lemonade and it's a must have, very nice! Also we shared a jug of sangria which reminded me of my Spanish holidays. 3 types for everyone's tastes. A must have off the menu is potato bravas, they were lush.

You have to try fino's if you haven't already been. 10/10

My wife and I visited Finos for the first time on Tuesday. We had the early bird - 4 tapas for £12 and we were most impressed - the anchovies were the best we have ever tasted. We had a bit more time to kill before we picked up our daughter so had a further 4 tapas after noticing the Tuesday night 2 for 1 deal. We went home very full, satisfied and with a very strong desire to return soon. Excellent food and service, very reasonable prices, highly recommended.

I visited Finos with my husband and son on Fathers Day, after reading that 'Fathers Eat for Free on Father's Day'. Well, what he actually got for free was a 3-tapas selection, worth £9.99. Still, better than nothing! The food was good, my husband also had the paella, and said it was better than he had tasted in Spain, so that's saying something. I had the veg pasta dish, which was fairly tasty, but a little bland - the pasta appeared to be out of a packet and not freshly made. The bread too was disappointing. Our son is quite a fussy eater and ordered the 'hamburguesa', he enjoyed the burger itself, but it was covered in melted cheese, which was just too strong for him so spoilt the dish. The decor in the restaurant was lovely, nice and bright and cheerful. All in all, we enjoyed our trip and the waiting staff could not do enough for us. We will definitely go back sometime.

Its not often I can get that excited about a restuarant but Finos was on eof the best I have been to in a long time. Food, service, value for money and atmosphere full marks.

Had a lovely meal at Finos yesterday evening before going to play in a concert at the Floral Hall so we were pushed for time. The service was relaxed but efficient and the food great. Good value Early Bird menu - £12 for 4 tapas!

We love the decor and ambience of the place.

The only criticism I have is that there weren' enough vegetarian choices on the menu.

Have been eating out in and around Southport for many years, My wife and I rate any venues we eat at, out of 5. due to - location - menu - service - price - food. We have been to Fino's twice since it arrived in Southport, gaining only a 3 on our first visit, but a high 4 on our last visit, which was last Sunday. We do not go back to a venue if it falls less than 3.

Here's a list of places we have been over the last 12 months, plus rating

    Cloisters Restaurant -3
    Ask - 3 (2011) 3 (2012)
    Auberge - 4 (2011) 3 (2012)
    Langs - 4
    Vincent - 4
    Tonys, King Street - 2
    Four Corners - 2

    More if needed.

Great Tapas at Finos. Dined here when it first opened and dined last month, food is really good and always piping hot. Sangria could do with being a little stronger though

Have been to Finos several times since it opened , last one this week. Food always lovely and hot and the staff very friendly and helpful. Only sad thing is lack of people in there ...would definitely recommend it and will keep on going...just hope it stands the test of time.

    A must try!

Finos is one of the best places to eat in Southport and at a reasonable price. Very welcoming staff and a open kitchen which really wets you appetite. The Tapas is to the high standard that I've had from other places outside of Southport and far superior the the large chain, however the portion size of the tapas dishes seem a little on the small side (yes I know it's tapas). Good idea to follow them on their Facebook page as they often post special offers.

I can't actually tell you how many times we have been to Fino's as we are regulars since it opened. We have been in large parties as well as intimate meals.

They have a great childrens menu which is very reasonable priced. There are also regular great offers running.

Food is always cooked to a high standard and never have too long to wait. There is an extensive menu to choose from.

Great to see new business's doing well, keep up the good service.

My partner and I ate here yesterday lunchtime (Tuesday 5 June) taking advantage of the two for one tapas offered every Tuesday.

We enjoyed chorizo, patatas bravas, calamari, hake pieces, sweet potato fries and ribs; a feast indeed! The chef even sent out an additional portion of hake bites as he said the first batch was only quite small.

The food was all freshly cooked and tasty and the service was good; attentive but not over the top.

I ordered a jug of water and my partner had a coke and the total bill was £15; an absolute bargain.

We visited Finos in the first week it opened and the service, food quality and general atmosphere has definitely improved since then.

We'll be making it a regular from now on, especially on Tuesdays! :-)
