It was nice to go back to NCC. I have recently spent my lunches perfecting food that I could cook well but using frozen products. I won't bore you with the details but I don't get out very often.

NCC has offered a good, hearty lunch for many years. Current price of £5.45 gets you starter, main and pud. Smaller deals exist but ,frankly, if you are not having the full works you are in the wrong place.

The food is always very tasty, very hot and very well presented. The Td'H is varied and all main meals can be made with Chicken, pork, beef, vegetables or prawns. The rice is very tasty and not at all like the usual tired and stale stodge that most places offer, particularly at lunchtime.

The staff are friendly, the dining area bright and well arranged and a well stocked bar completes the overall ambience.

My only criticism is the price of soft drinks. Very few people take alcohol at lunch so the hefty price tag for a pint of lime cordial (£2.80) will come as a shock. This is the most I have ever paid in any restaurant in Southport.

So, apart from the cordial, this Southport institution is still serving great quality food. The evening banquets are truly awesome and you may even see the staff and regulars punish a song or two on the karaoke.
