Robert Fletcher is recorded working as a clock & watch maker at several Chester addresses in the late 18th century ~ Linenhall Street 1782, Foregate Street 1789-95, Higher Bridge Street 1792. The family business was taken over by his son, also Robert, who was granted his freedom in 1800.

your clock was made for a rural market, Oak and mahogany cross banded.
I presume it is an 8 day (2 hole) some clocks had the 2 holes in the face as a decoration but where in fact 30 hour.

The clock movement was probably not made in Birmingham and bought in.

I notice that your Clock Finials are missing.

During the WW11 people used to take the brass finials off and hand them in for the war fund.
