Hard-pressed motorists received some respite today when three supermarkets announced fuel-price cuts.

Sainsbury's said they are to cut petrol prices by 4p a litre and diesel is to be reduced by 3p a litre from Wednesday.

Asda said they would be cutting petrol prices by upto 3p a litre and diesel by upto 2p a litre.

Tesco said they would be cutting both petrol and diesel by 3p.
