The 1998 Open winner Mark O'Meara hit the first shot of the 2017 Open this morning.
In damp and rainy conditions 156 players will tackle the famous Royal Birkdale links.
It is expected to brighten up during the morning. Over 200,000 people are expected to attend over the four days of the tournament.
