The free wristband ballot for the Blackpool Illuminations Switch-On event in 2018 is open – by public demand!

It follows the huge success of this year’s event when a capacity audience packed the Tower Festival Headland Arena to watch a spectacular five-hour concert, culminating in the resort’s first intergalactic Switch-On.

Since that night, the VisitBlackpool team has been inundated with requests for information on next year’s event, scheduled for Friday 31 August. It will once again feature a star-studded concert produced in association with MTV.

And the best thing is, it’s still free to register – all you have to do is enter the ballot to win wristbands.

People can put their name in the hat by registering at www.visitblackpool.com/switchon for their chance to receive up to four wristbands per household.

This year, over 100,000 people applied for tickets to attend the event so registration has been opened early to give everyone the chance to win some of the 20,000 tickets for next year’s event.

Councillor Gillian Campbell, Deputy Leader of Blackpool Council: “Switch-On night is without doubt the biggest night in Blackpool’s calendar and is unbelievably popular with more than 100,000 people applying for tickets this year.

“This year’s Switch-On was a huge success with Diversity flicking the switch with help from Star Trek’s Captain Lorca who was beamed in direct from the deck of the Starship Discovery.

“It’s a night definitely not to be missed and I would urge people to apply for their wristbands now – it could be the best free night out you’ll ever have.”
