The Oldest item you have ever owned

    This may interest the posters.

Why not send a photograph of the oldest item you have owned.
I will start thing off with a 4000 year old urn.

What's a Chinese urn...........depends, if they own or work in the restaurant

Back in 1979 I bought this urn + other items off a group of Chinese people who where stuck in Atlanta due to the troubles in China. After putting on an exhibition at the High Museum they did not have any way of returning home. The money paid was for their air fares.

    neolithic urn with painted decoration
    2 loop handles, cylindrical neck
    circa 2000 - 3000 BC
north / central china - posibly from Kensu, Shensi, Shansi or Donan

I have a small stone from the top of Scafell Pike, probably from the Ordovician geologic period, around 450 million years ago.

now that is a very good question.

I bought about 100 items if I remember rightly.

Some of the items where damaged.
I sold the damaged items to a mad collector who had all the items he bought checked in a scientific lab... all came back as genuine for their age.

So I presume the other items are real.

Remember in 1979 in China there was so many real items there was no need to produce reproductions. But in 1990 things had changed.

Just for the record the item I have shown

    neolithic urn with painted decoration
    2 loop handles, cylindrical neck
    circa 2000 - 3000 BC
north / central china - possibly from Kensu, Shensi, Shansi or Donan
Was excepted by the Chinese Government when I exported it.

Looks like a very "interesting" pot there Briana. Which car boot sale did you say you managed to source this item from?

In all honesty Vanny, do you stock may of these terracotta pots or are they not really your speciality?
