Detectives investigating the attempted murder of a 25-year-old man in Willoughby Road, Waterloo on Friday 9 November are continuing to appeal for information find a man we wish to speak to in connection with the investigation.
25-year-old Stanley McBrien is from the Crosby area. He is described as white, 5ft 8in tall, of proportionate build, with short brown hair, blue eyes, and speak with a Liverpool accent.

At 10.30pm on Friday 9 November 2018, officers were called to reports of a disturbance at a first floor flat at a house on Willoughby Road, Waterloo. On arrival they found a 25-year-old man, who had suffered extensive burns and stab wounds to his head and body. He was being tended to by paramedics and neighbours who had assisted him at the scene.

Detective Inspector Gary Stratton said: “Although we have arrested a number of people in connection with this incident, and charged three men and one woman, our investigation is ongoing and it is vital that we speak to everyone who may have information.

“We believe that McBrien is one of those people so I would urge him, or anyone who knows his current whereabouts, to come forward as soon as possible. I would strongly advise anyone who has seen, associated, or provided shelter for McBrien does the right thing as soon as possible as our enquiries will continue until we find him, acting on each and every piece of information provided.

“You can speak to us directly, or anonymously through Crimestoppers, which is completely independent of the police.”

25-year-old Edward Crompton, of Bowland Drive, Litherland; 36-year-old Thomas Barnes, of Crosby Road South, Seaforth; and 28-year-old Ben Shields, of Commercial Road, Liverpool, have been charged with attempted murder and are in custody to next appear on Tuesday, 23 April 2019 at Liverpool Crown Court.

26 year-old Kayleigh Brett from Oakdale Road, Waterloo has also been charged with assisting an offender in connection with the case and conditionally bailed to appear at Sefton Magistrates Court on Thursday 24th January.
