i would say the cup is at the top end of what i would pay....

one more thing,,,,,when you see an item at a car boot sale ,,do you buy for yourself or to sell, i know its a bit of a cliche but if your buying to sell you need to be asking yourself a few questions...

1st= is there a market for this item ( are there many collectors of this exact item) because an old book is just an old book if its of no interest to anybody,,for example i will buy an old book on fishing ,,shooting,,history etc..because i know there is a market for the items...

2nd = is the condition good because this is important,,you might see a first edition of a book for example selling for £400 then the same book next to it with a name written inside selling for £40..

3rd = is the price right

hope this helps ,,i am not tring to be smart,, just trying to help......

Well I thought there would be a market for old clocks...

Grandfather / Skeletal and all that...

    1. Old clocks are worth something normally.

    2. + (Positive) Great British Clock.

Koo Koo, looked old and nice.

Books were in good condition and quite old, it all helps... 60p for all 3 as well...

I also saw 4 chairs for £2, didn't get as would clog up to much space but recon I could of got £50 for the lot now thinking about it... dam hinsight is a great thing...

I normally buy to sell but sometimes things I would like I consider buying to sell as should be a bit of amrket for them.

I saw a c. 1857 or something ship in glass for £30, as well...

Probably not much hope but there you go.

Couldn't that silver thing be a bargain then at £150. ? If he bartered...

The heading says : Antique Spot with John Nolan (www.theantiquesman.com)
That's what we want, not a load of inexperienced people filling up a lot of space with uninteresting stuff. Uninteresting for most of us that is. Sorry, but that's the way I see it. Sure others view it differently.

I thought this site was help with evaluatig item which may be worth something and he will give us a evaluation other than waisting out time and taking it to a auctioneer, as John seems to no what he is talking about, and seems from the short time I have known him a trustworth candiate.

It is much better having a active forum than a boring forum of on average around one post every two weeks which it seems you would like.

That is just my 2 cents so at the end of the day we are all entitled to our own iopinion...

Around 40 - 50 % of things evaluated from what I have heard is normally tat anyway... So, yes unexpirenced, but basic instinct is to check if it is worth anything, as this is common sense...

Gesssh... Briana was only trying to help which is a lot more than what you were doing Derek, so I say this politely as possible, please get off your high horse...

Not on a horse at all. Just think you're hogging the forum too much with stuff that others miight prefer to send to the jumble sale. The red indicates that you should read what you write before you submit, or do some homework on your langauge. And there are no doubt errors that I have missed.

Just remember nobody likes a smart ***...

Hogging the forums anyone else can post other than me and Briana, but as nobody else is posting I don't see the problem...

If you don't have anything to contirbute which could be helpful please don't post at all, before you say don't tell me what to do, I have more posts than you or whatever, it is nothing to do with post count, it is to do with the morailty of right and wrong...

And that's the point people take items to a jumble sale, with no idea knowing how much they are worth and they may just through a way a little gem, where as if they had used this site and asked John for an evaluation they would still have there little gem, I think it is always better to be safe than sorry...

well said advanced, you do right, keep posting,, for genuine antique lovers its all interesting anyway whether its worth good money or not,, i dont understand the problem anyway, if they are not interested in what we are posting why are they reading and replying to our posts???

and the punctuality and spelling exam from derk h , very childish.........not really even worth a mention...
