Pop star Boy George bought an Icon in the 1980's and proudly displayed it on his bedroom wall. It was not until Bishop Porfyrios of the Greek Orthodox Church watched a Dutch TV documentary about the life of the pop star did the story of the Icon was revealed. Unknowing to Boy George it had been stolen in 1974, when the Turks invaded Cyprus and looted the church. The Greek Orthodox Bishop contacted Boy George and "by George" he kindly returned the Icon to Cyprus.
What a nice gesture.... But returning thing to the Greeks may open the flood gates for other things to be returned, like the Elgin Marbles
