I've got what looks to be a damaged, French bayonet from 1816. The thing that intrigues me is it has writing along the top of the blade, as I've no idea what it says? Could you or anyone else help?

Could it be worth anything?

Items like this normally sell for £30 to £60

but with the inscription it puts your bayonet into a category of it's own.

Advice............. take it to the Militaria section at Bonhams or Sotheby's
