My sister-in-law here in East Texas collects Fostoria glass. She must have thousands of dollars-worth. I asked her how she can tell it is Fostoria, because there seem to be no markings on any of it. She says "when you see enough and collect enough of it, you can tell." She goes by a catalogue, and searches garage sales, flea markets estate sales, and anywhere they might have the odd piece of glass ware.
My question: Do you know anything about glass? About Fostoria? What type of glass ware is collectable in the UK?
Oh, John--I live in Henderson, Texas, which is about 100 miles east of Dallas, about half way between Dallas and the Louisiana border. It is a very "country-fied" area, rural, with oil wells and agriculture (think cowboys, with jeans, boots, and cowboy hats.)
If you ever come over here to the states, me and The Husband would welcome a visit from you (on condition you bring your little black book!)

This type of glass is very inexpensive in the USA at car boot sales, garage sales, swap meets etc, $1- $2
In Antique shops and antique fairs the prices are very high.$40 -$90 for the same items.
Glass like this in England is only sold in the flee market type places for very little. £2 -£3 each.
It is like carnival glass in this country worth very little £5 - £10 most items
Yet in the USA the same items worth $50-$200.
In England glass is collected but not as widely as the US.
18th century glass (air twist stem drinking glasses can bring between £300-£500 each
yet in the US I have bought them at antique fairs for $20
