    Antique Courses?

Hello, I was hoping someone could give me some advice. I am looking for a home based antique course to improve my knowledge. I can only find two, one being the Regents Academy Antique courses and the other Asheford Institute of Antiques based in Canada and America.

I have asked and searched for references from people that have taken the courses to no avail. Is there anyone here that has any information or opinion on either of the courses? Thank you in advance for any advice.

    minefield

i think the antique game is like a minefeild there are so many areas involved, your best bet would be to choose a couple of specific areas to specify in,ie ceramics and military for example, and touch and inspect as many peices as you can, i would suggest not paying fortunes for items at this stage because there are so many different factors involved. basically you learn as you go thats the exciting part of it. look at john for example he is probably still learning everyday after 40 years in the game.

    Hi Briana5124,

Thank you very much for your response. Point taken and good advice but I would really like to take a good course as well.

I hope someone will come along that has heard of Regents Academy. Because it is UK based I would prefer to take it over the Asheford course but I cannot find anything positive or negative about it per say.

Hi again. Perhaps you could google them. I wouldn't like to appear to be promoting them when all I was wanting in the first place was good or bad advice regarding their courses!

It is beginning to look like it won't happen. However, if you become interested as well perhaps between the two of us we may find someone.

Vanman, if you are serious, I am available. I would love nothing more. Unless you were referring to your comment about realising everyday you know nothing that is, I have sadly already gained that knowledge.

But even learning about nothing it would be quite a commute from Essex!

No responses anywhere! Signed up for the courses anyway so fingers crossed!

Very disappointed though that Vanman is too far or wasn't serious, take your pick.

I will be spending a lot of time in France (going out there for a few months the end of this week). I would like to specialise in French antiques but need a better basic knowledge. Here's hoping that the economy picks up soon and there will be a good market here for them.

By the way, an excellent site, will try to look in regularly.

    Good luck in France.

Remember if wood worm was a country,
French Furniture would be the capital.
