The strike has been suspended for the time being whilst the voting figures are being sorted.

How sad management gave in offering a grossly inflated pay offer.
Weakness beyond belief, now the ratepayers/taxpayers are burdened
with more expense. Now we must seriously ask. Put an hourly bus service and we the
public will adapt to. Hence you can reduce both man power and vehicle numbers.

Well done Arriva drivers.
Solidarity with all striking workers.
Who said the unions have lost any clout? Union membership is on the rise across the U.K.

Odds on that you are either someone paid way above the minimum wage and conditions that half of the UK workers are on or else a retiree on a healthy final salary pension.
And hearing people on zero hours contracts, being messed around by employers increaseing/reducing their hours on a daily basis, criticise the Rail/Bus workers for being 'greedy' astounds me.
How have ordinary working people been conned into believing they 'deserve' lousy working conditions and pay. Oh right - I forgot about the Daily Mail, The Daily Telegraph, The Sun, The Daily Express (edited by supposedly a leftist Labour supporting Editor - hypocrisy gone mad)....

Half the UK workers, or 7% of all UK workers according to the LPC?
I don't begrudge anyone a proper decent wage, but I have to think where this money will be coming from to give the workers a 11.1% pay rise, so I can only think it will be:-
- Raised bus prices?
- Cuts to bus services?
- Modernisation of the work force?
- If it doesn't happen already, outsourcing the mechanics who keep the buses running?
Which ever it is, I believe it will involve higher prices for the customer.

Customers are about to enjoy a price cut. All Liverpool City region services are to be capped at £2.

Ah, ok. So the new fare is subject to agreement (which I haven't found, unless you have a link please) with the bus operators and is for an initial three-year period and brought about using a £12m Bus Services Improvement Plan (BSIP) which is still subject to confirmation.
Also, I found this that states "All of the proposals using BSIP money require government approval before they can proceed."

If we ever get a government that is not in hock to all the cowboy businesses that we are plagued with - and it looks unlikely that Labour as it is presently formed will be that government - then the money will probably come from clawing back all the excessive profits made by privatised utilities, dubious NHS private contractors, tax leaks to Jersey, Isle of Man, Virgin Islands, foreign rail companies owning our railways and buses... etc. etc.
Also by obliging businesses to actually invest in their business to increase productivity - by some measures we are 34th out of 36 countries when it comes to certain indicators.
It is only our government supporting, billionaire, right-wing newspapers who keep pushing the line 'how are we going to pay for it' - so best avoid swallowing it. Anyone who relies on one newspaper for their information really needs to start picking up (for all its faults) The Guardian or Independent.

So management being weak give into bully boy tactics of the unions.
Person speaks of £2 fare cap. The company now has to find around £2million to pay this pay rise. WHERE DO YOU THINK ITS GOING TO COME FROM
reality., fare increases , removal of free bus pass plus numerous redundancies.
There is absolutely no alternative. Do well to arriva drivers.
