A spokesperson for Sefton Council said: “After working and liaising directly with United Utilities, the NHS and Social Care teams, care homes located within the affected areas have all received sufficient water supply from United Utilities.

Status as at 8pm Sunday, July 24th

“Council officers were deployed this afternoon and have delivered approximately 1,800ltrs between care homes and 200 litres to vulnerable residents today.

"Council officers have established traffic diversions following the closure of the A5036 (Dunnings Bridge Road) between Netherton Way and Hawthorne Road.

“Two road diversions are in place. Traffic will be diverted right from Dunnings Bride road /A5036 junction left towards Netherton Way, or right toward Boundary Rd.

“The A5036 / Church Road is closed at Hawthorne Road, diverting traffic right up Hawthorne Road towards the Tesco store or left up Sefton Road.

“The Council are liaising with Merseyside Police and National Highways on traffic management in the area.”
