    black jasper ware vases

i have a pair of black wedgewood jasper ware vases, or they might be called urns. they are 19cms high, and they are very narrow at the bottom, go out, then in just below the neck, which goes out again.

they have a mark on the bottom wedgewood, and underneath this is made in england. there is also a small circular mark which i cannot make out.

the decoration is on one side a lady in a robe pouring something into a brazier from her right hand, in her left hand is a branch, on the other side is another lady in a robe holding a bowl of fruit, and a small boy holding a branch.

i got them some years ago at a car boot sale for £20, and with them i also got a smaller vase, 13cms high, slightly different shape on a square base. this also has the same marks on the bottom.

i have wondered for some time if i had got a bargain or a pig in a poke.

    Hi clevpete............

    I presume no "e" in Wedgwood d

Going by the fact they have "made in England" on the Base they are 20th century. New, the items would cost a lot but unfortunately second hand Wedgwood at the present is on a low. Pale Blue is the worst seller, then dark blue then green and then black. The urns probably copy of famous Greek urns, reminds me of the joke , "WHAT'S A GREEK URN"............£20 per week.

If you post a photograph I could give you some more information and a value.
    All the best
