All the world’s a stage… This July, outdoor theatre heads to the gardens of the National Trust’s Rufford Old Hall for two adaptations of classic love stories by William Shakespeare and Jane Austen.

Set around a charming Tudor house filled with Lancashire history, this unique experience only comes around once a year. Outdoor theatre has become a summer staple for Rufford Old Hall, located near Ormskirk, with its immaculate gardens playing host to hundreds of theatre-goers every year.

Bringing the tragic story of Romeo and Juliet to Lancashire, audiences will experience a super glam adaptation of Shakespeare’s iconic tale on Friday 5 Julyas Rufford Old Hall welcomes the notorious celebrity families, the Montagues and the Capulets.

With the media reporting their every move and social media abuzz with their escapades, tensions are running high. There’s only one question on everybody’s lips - will these two families behave? Or will it be another fiery battle at dawn as the fabulous feud continues?

On Wednesday 24 July, Jane Austen’s classic novel Sense and Sensibility will be brought to life in a funny, fast-paced and faithful adaptation by the critically-acclaimed Pantaloons Theatre Company. Taking to the outdoor stage will be Elinor Dashwood, who has a lot of good sense, and her sister Marianne Dashwood, who has an excess of sensibility.

Not only will this adaptation present all of the scandals, scoundrels and severely sprained ankles of the original novel, it will feature plenty of live music and audience interaction, making it a summer night to remember.

Both performances will take place on Rufford Old Hall’s Beech Walk Paddock, with a start time of 7pm. Audiences are advised to bring their own seating, pack a picnic and dress for the weather. There will be toilet facilities, including an accessible toilet and baby changing station, and free parking will be available on-site too.

Tickets are priced at £15 for adults and £12.50 for children for each performance.

Thanks for your post. I’ve been thinking about writing a very comparable post over the last couple of weeks, I’ll probably keep it short and sweet and link to this instead if thats cool. Thanks.
