    hi concerned

these type of mirrors are called Cushion Framed Mirrors. Very fashionable in the Queen Anne Period and then in the later part of 18th century when they where painted and lacquered in what is called chinoiserie style

this is what a real mirror looks like

The mirror you have shown in YOUR photograph is a beveled mirror. The style of the chinoiserie frame is of a window pattern.

If the mirror was antique the glass has been changed because back in the 18th century beveled mirrors was not the norm. Your item is not antique, it is a reproduction so the beveled mirror does not come into the equation.

It looks nice and is commercial.

In about 1978-80 a very talented man in Formby started to make mirrors just like the one in the photograph.

If you could show a picture of the back of the frame then all would be revealed.

He used ply wood for the backing board and he sold them back then for £115 retail and £65 trade.

I do have some of theses mirrors in stock in Blue and Green which I have part exchanged starting at about £50.

I would like to see the back of your mirror as Wareing's and Gillow also sold these type of mirrors in the 1950's

In auction I would guess your mirror it would bring £100 still to day.

may be on ebay described in a certain way may bring £300

    If antique £1500 to £3000
please note it is theantiquesman account on qlocal that is now only used, thank you

Interesting, when I got the mirror, way back in the 80's, the mirror which is bevelled was bad, so I cleaned off the silver, and simply placed at the back of it some plain new mirror - so it was still a mirror and retained what I assumed was the original bevelled glass, thinking one day I would get it re silvered.

Anyway, an image of the back (it never had a plywood back I don't think?), and an image of one of the corner joints.

this mirror is a lot older than you think.

the front of the frame has been restored and re painted.
so at first glance it looks reproduction.
but when you see the back you can tell it is old and has been restored.
    May be over restored.

    I like the back.

Well, seeing as I haven't put it back on the wall yet, which is not easy trying to match the screws with those 2 plates, I will pop it in the car and bring it down to you tomorrow to 'see in the flesh'
