Tip off KC
Act now if you want to save a perfectly healthy tree from bring removed by the borough council!
E mail received at the busy QLocal Ormskirk news desk: 'One of our neighbours knocked telling us that the lovely tree in the corner of the Grimshaw Lane football field is to be cut down.
'The tree surgeon told him that it's not diseased and that it just needs a few branches cutting but he had been authorised to cut the whole thing down because a branch fell off it in a recent storm.
'Can you cover this please as we are all baffled by this as it's a perfectly healthy tree. We have all emailed the man in question to voice our objections and I have also emailed it to the local councillors.
If you need a quote you can use this: 'One local resident said: 'I am baffled by the council's decision to cut this perfectly healthy tree down.
The tree surgeon on site even said that it wasn't diseased and only needed a few branches cutting, so why have the council authorised it to be cut down?
Is this down to laziness and them wanting to cut costs?
I hope they see sense and reverse their decision; we are supposed to be thinking about climate change and the environment and should be planting more trees not cutting them down!'
Despite another storm on the way, Coun. Gareth Dowling has said that any residents with concerns or objections about this matter can email him: cllr.dowling@westlancs.gov.uk
Chop, chop let's hope folk aren't too late!
