It's no pint sized undertaking - but the future of a popular Aughton pub could be secured if it's 'adopted' as a community asset.

The future of the Derby Arms was discussed at the July meeting of Aughton parish council with members acknowledging its chequered history over the past year or so - at one stage there were plans for demolition with it being replaced by two luxury homes - but these fell through.
When QLocal reporter Roger Blaxall called, two men were wrestling with the ancient Ford diesel generator to get it running again; the pub's been closed for over a year but its country setting makes in a popular choice with locals and passing trade on Prescot Road.
Said Aughton PC chairman Graham Jones: "It's been a popular pub in its time and it would be sad to see it close.
"I'd back plans for it to be adopted as a community asset but don't expect to see me pulling pints behind the bar!"
