Mawdesley's Red Admiral Music Academy Band visited Burscough's Arranmore Park rest home to play for a resident who loves brass bands and celebrated his 100th birthday on Friday.
Philip Whitehead celebrated with afternoon tea at Cedar Farm where he was a frequent visitor near where he lived in Mawdesley.
He was treated to a performance from the brass band at Arranmore.
Brought up in Duckinfield, Cheshire and Blackpool, Philip saw active service throughout the WW2 North Africa campaign, landing at Salerno in Italy and finally being wounded at the battle for Monte Cassino.
After the war he worked in the family fish and chip business and drove the MOD's top brass and is now enjoying life at Arranmore.
