It's almost 2pm and I'm looking out at another row of washing drying in the sunshine.

The back lawn has never looked better, not my shed tidier; it'll be painted soon (over two or three days) - procrastination's taken on a whole new meaning when you've little to do and lots of time to do it in, weather permitting.

Shopping today for an older friend I said to the Morrisons lady that it takes half the time to get to there and twice the time to shop! They now let in 113 shoppers at a time (up from 80) but it was v. quiet.

Anyway, here is today's news on what journalists call 'quiet news days' - a United Utilities Volvo broke down at a normally busy junction in Ormskirk this morning with little or no effect on traffic. A Honda Jazz got stuck behind him (its elderly driver wasn't paying that much attention - what's new?) and when I took a pic the wagon was sat on Wigan Road with its hazards on awaiting rescue.

A number of folk are wondering how long the Addy will soldier on with no real Ormskirk news to report while the Champ must be rueing the day it closed its print edition - LCC and the Borough councils spend £30,000 a year between them on those 'must go the Specsavers' tiny print statutory ads in the back pages about road closures, planning matters and the like.
