One of the smallest schools in west Lancashire had a big IT boost yesterday!

QLocal reporter Roger Blaxall was delighted to be contacted by Cerid Grimshaw, Business Development Manager for ZenTec Network Solutions of Dukinfield, Cheshire yesterday morning.The firm's played a leading part in donating refurbished laptops to schools and charities in and around the NW and yesterday visited Ormskirk to collect 25 laptops - and then onto Lathom Park School to hand over refurbised and updated machines.

She explained: "My business partner Michael Brooks and I started our appeal back in October for people to donate their old tech to us which we then refurbished.

"We replaced cracked screens, bought new batteries and chargers, while replacing and upgrading memory and hard drives to SSD’s if needed."

The company's now spent over £2,000 refurbishing devices and has set up a Gofundme page to raise £10,000 to continue doing just that.

Added Cerid: "Since returning to work after the Christmas break this appeal took off!"

To date ZenTec's given out over £7500 worth of tech. with the latest donation to Lathom Park where head Carol Wood's pictured with one of the laptops.

Yesterday Cerid and Michael also received a number of donations from in and around west Lancashire including Preston, Wigan, St Helens and Ormskirk.

"Many thanks to everyone in the area that have donated so far to help children across the North West!" she concluded.
