BURSCOUGH WHARF CRACKING DOWN ON ANTISOCIALPATRONSREPORTS ROSIE COOPER MP
Immediate release: Friday 30 July
West Lancashire MP, Rosie Cooper was contacted recently by constituents regarding the nightlife at Burscough Wharf.
Residents were concerned by the noise, littering and general antisocial behaviour of visitors to the Wharf, some had even been leaving the pubs and urinating on or near the residential buildings.
Rosie Cooper MP wrote to NRE Surveyors who are the commercial property consultants with oversight of the businesses at Burscough Wharf, following these complaints asking what can be done so the residents are not impacted by the growing footfall at the wharf.
NRE surveyors held a meeting with the hospitality operators to discuss the issues and make improvements where necessary. At the meeting NRE put forward several actions the businesses should take to resolve this. These included increased staff training to identify customers of concern, each venue having different opening and closing hours ensuring no single ‘throwing out’ time and continued dialogue between NRE and the local police.
Rosie Cooper MP said: “I would like to thank NRE surveyors for making these changes and appreciate the work they are doing to ensure any anti-social behaviour can be kept at a minimum.
“I am sure the Burscough residents will be relieved to hear of these changes, especially now that restrictions have been lifted.
"I appreciate these businesses working together to adapt and ensure residents as well as people attending Burscough Wharf are all counted for and considered when improvements are being discussed.
“I would also like to congratulate Burscough Wharf on the success of this site it is a great benefit to Burscough, and the cooperation from NRE and the businesses within the Wharf who responded quickly and appropriately to residents’ concerns.”
