COVID 19 has affected a lot of our favourite activities, but Burscough Diving Club continues to work hard to keep all its athletes engaged and enjoying the sport.
Last weekend saw a great turnout of all its divers aged 5 to 46 keen to participate in the ‘SPLASH’ Club Championships at its home pool, Nye Bevan, Skelmersdale.
Due to Covid and social distancing measures, the competition was split into two parts; the first was an online virtual competition where divers were delighted and surprised to have their dryland skills judged by three members of diving royalty, Yona Knight Wisdom (Olympic diver), Hugo Ordonez (Fina Judge) and Sergio Guzman (Mexican cliff diver), while the second part was held in the pool where we were amazed to see several divers pushing themselves to new achievements.
Head Coach Carlos Ferra said: “The pandemic has changed how we operate as a club.
"We have found that using online tools not only works for our divers but also keeps family members at home and abroad, who cannot be near their family, connected.
"It is also great to see all our divers remain as passionate and committed to learn and develop as ever”.
