An Afghan asylum seeker hounded out of Skem is now living 'the good life' in leafy Sale, Cheshire.
Aughton church prays for asylum seeker terrorised out of his home by Skem yobs (qlocal.co.uk)
And last weekend as a thankyou to friends at Aughton Park Baptist Church, he invited Pastor Billy McCurrie and Lisa Williams over for a delicious Afghan inspired meal at the home of his new 'houseparents'.
Mike and Eileen Willner worked with charity Positive Action in Housing to offer Mahmoud Popalzai a temporary home while he looks for work - his ultimate aim is to be a paramedic in memory of his late doctor father targetted by the Taliban.
He seems to have settled really well in Sale and is especially at home in the Willner's kitchen, cooking around two dozen chicken kebabs accompanied by rice with his own unique sauce for his visitors.
When he arrived in west Lancs, he was helped by the amazing Family Forge charity founded by Jocelyn Owens (Family Forge - For Great Families) who also enjoyed a similar meal with the Willners, commenting: "I said to Mahmoud that he needs to bottle his sauces! Popalzai sauce!"
He met folks at Aughton Park after attending a carol service there in 2019; read part of Mahmoud's amazing story here:
