Despite an impressive performance for the Manchester Originals in the inaugural men’s match of The Hundred at the Oval in London, former Ormskirk player Tom Hartley couldn't get his team out of a jam...
The Originals ended up losing the game on Thursday v. the Oval Invincibles by just nine runs after a thrilling finish.
Hartley, a left-arm spinner, was arguably the Manchester Originals’ best bowler, with ten consecutive deliveries at the start of their innings claiming the wickets of England players Sam Curran and Jason Roy, the latter to a catch by Tom Lammonby.
Hartley finished with respectable figures of 2-20, even though he delivered 15 balls in the powerplay and five at the end.
Last year the 23-year-old enjoyed his breakthrough season for Lancashire and has been given a deal in the inaugural season of the Hundred for Manchester Originals because of his form in his first full T20 Blast season.
As a teenager he played regularly for Ormskirk in the Liverpool and District Cricket Competition.
