Talented members of St. John's Church knitting group along with U3A members and knitters from Burscough have been knitting bunting and knitted chains in Jubilee colours.
Ruth Elliot, with the permission of the Post Office, undertook to make a knitted and crocheted cover for the main post box, its theme items associated with the Queen.
These include a Land Rover, the Queen's favourite vehicle, two corgis, two of her distinctive hats and a handbag, a pigeon (she is a pigeon fancier), two Grenadier guards, a flower girl and a parachute over Wembley Stadium - a reminder of the Queen and James Bond at the opening ceremony of the 2012 Olympic Games - all surmounted by a crown.
The venture has also been supported by Burscough Town Council.
