A man remains in a critical condition after being hit by a diesel train near Ormskirk station.
Emergency services attended the scene shortly after 10pm on Friday following reports of a person seen injured on the tracks.
A BTP PR officer said: “Officers were called to Ormskirk station shortly after 10pm on May 7 following reports of a casualty on the tracks.
“Paramedics also attended and a man was taken to hospital where he remains in a critical condition. The incident is not being treated as suspicious.”
Northern confirmed the man was hit by a Preston to Ormskirk train, with a hazardous area response team also sent to the scene by NWAS.
