Did a young Edge Hill student die after trying to retrieve his mobile phone after dropping it onto the railway line at Ormskirk station?
Almost a week after the 19-year-old lost his fight for life in Aintree Hospital, there seems to be more questions than answers about his tragic death, according to one local councillor.
Adrian Owens from OWL (Our West Lancashire) yesterday congratulated QLocal Ormskirk for keeping the story in the public eye and says he is preparing a number of questions for local pub and bar owners, the Police and John Cater, Vice Chancellor of Edge Hill in the aftermath of the tragedy.
Its PR department is refusing to confirm the name of the teenager – now known by reporter Roger Blaxall - who was electrocuted in the incident at the station at 3am on 1 November. Three friends who were with him at the time will be crucial witnesses when an inquest is finally held by the Sefton coroner.
Yesterday, Edge Hill's PR department issued this statement to QLocal: "Out of respect for the student’s family and friends we have decided not to release a name at this time and it would not be appropriate for us to comment further following this tragic incident.”
Last night there still wasn’t a single tribute at the scene for the student who was believed to be a keen footballer at the Uni.
