Detectives are continuing to appeal for information after a smash and grab robbery at a jewellers in Ormskirk, which saw the store owner threatened with an angle grinder.
Just after 4.35pm on September 25th a masked man cut through a side window at David Moss Jewellers in Moorgate with an angle grinder and began taking items of jewellery.
Owner David Moss came outside to challenge the man and initially chased him away. As he returned to the store he was then threatened with the power tool; the suspect then continued to take more items via the broken window.
He then rode off on a black mountain bike, which had white forks, with tens of thousands of pounds of platinum and white gold diamond jewellery.
In total £70,000 of jewellery was taken, with around £20,000 of items dropped at the scene and returned by members of the public.
No arrest has been made but enquiries are ongoing to identify the man pictured in the CCTV still and recover the remaining £50,000 of stolen jewellery.
Detectives are continuing to appeal for witnesses and are also asking any jewellers or pawn shop owners to get in contact if they are offered any of the items pictured.
DC Kelly Rosenthal, of South CID, said: “Although enquiries are very much ongoing, we still need to identify the man in the CCTV still and return the remaining stolen items to the victim who was simply going about his business when he was attacked. I would also ask other business owners to remain vigilant and get in contact with the police if they are offered any of the items taken during this robbery.”
Anyone with information is asked to email 2496@lancashire.pnn.police.uk or call 101, quoting log 0994 of September 25th, 2020. Alternatively, call independent charity Crimestoppers, in confidence, on 0800 555111.
