Report: Steve Rouke
With a second lockdown, no rugby for quite some time and the club bar not allowed to open, Ormskirk Rugby Club has had most sources of income stripped - and has been reliant upon membership subs. to survive.
So members came up with a run and move 5k a day in November - where they'd run, walk or cycle 5k daily to hopefully raise £2,000 for the club.
Some 12 runners and 10 movers set about the task, quickly reaching £2000; the club raised the target to £3000 which was quickly achieved, raised it again to £4000 which again was reached and with six days to spare went for £5,000!
A Christmas raffle helped raise a grand total of £5,500 which will allow ORUFC to maintain the game for the community and people of all ages from 6 to 86.
