A pensioner who collapsed in Ormskirk town centre yesterday faced a long wait for an ambulance.
A number of police officers and PCSO's stayed on the scene after the man was taken ill near the town centre clock at around 3pm. He was wrapped in foil and comforted while his concerned wife - and local shoppers - looked on.
This afternoon, the busy NWAS PR office confirmed that an ambulance was called at 3pm and arrived at 3.49 with the man taken to hospital in Southport.
From Ormskirk Live FB page: 'Ormskirk Police and the family of a gentleman who collapsed in Ormskirk town centre on Tuesday 20th October would like to extend their thanks to members of the public and local businesses who kindly assisted in his care whilst awaiting medical attention.
The gentleman is now home and resting.
This shows again what a great community we live in.'
PC Jo and PCSO Steve

QLocal reporter Roger Blaxall's requested a statement from the busy NWAS press office.
How do you know the press office is busy Roger? Maybe they wouldn't be if they didn't have nosey people like you harrassing them.
And what exactly are you expecting them to tell you? A full report on his medical treatment perhaps? Or a rundown on the location of every ambulance in the area at the time?
Yet another non-story - and show some respect for someone who is having medical issues, instead of taking covert snaps of him while he's in distress. It's pathetic and unethical.
