Have you ever wondered what you can learn by studying those old photographs that have been handed down through generations of your family?

If so, Ormskirk and District Family History Society might just be able to help you!

For the first time in 18 months, it's planning to welcome a guest speaker to their next Zoom meeting, to be held at 8p.m. on Wednesday 28th July, when Stephen Gill will give a presentation on 'Dating Old Photographs'.

All are welcome to attend the Zoom talk, which is likely to be of particular interest to family historians, photographers and perhaps even historical fashion enthusiasts, and anyone who would like to request a link to the event is asked to contact Kate Hurst (Honorary Chair) at chairman@odfhs.email

To complement their planned talks, ODFHS has recently introduced Virtual Family History Chat sessions, which are held via Zoom at 11a.m. on the second Thursday of each month. Local geography featured in the introductory chat in June, and (thanks to the hard work of an overseas member of the Society) the most recent session on 8 July was attended by a small number of people from the Australian family history community! The next Virtual Family History Chat takes place on 12 August; anyone who is interested in joining it can request a link from the e-mail address given above.

Additionally, the members-only area of the ODFHS website has recently been expanded to include a host of indentures relating to local apprentices, WW1 era church magazines for Halsall and Aughton, photos of original local artefacts and more.
