Police are investigating a teatime mugging next to one of the busiest roads in Ormskirk.
A 14-year-old was set upon by seven lads who grabbed him round the throat for his mobile.
Police have confirmed that officer attended the scene at 5.30 on Monday night at the rear entrance to the park on County Road.
A press officer said: "We were called around 5.30pm on Monday to a report of an assault in County Road, Ormskirk.
"A 14-year-old boy had been in Coronation Park when he was grabbed by another male around the throat."
The area's well covered by CCTV although officers have not yet released any description of the thugs who were said to be aged around 17 or 18. And they have not specified where the attack took place at one of two exits from the park onto County Road.
