Over this weekend, members of The Rotary Club of Ormskirk Clocktower marked World Polio day with a 'Bake Off' style cup cake campaign to raise awareness of this important Rotary initiative.
In total they made 351 cakes which were given to friends and family with many members of the Club getting involved.
Internationally, Rotary clubs have embarked upon a project to rid the world of polio - remarkably this dreadful disease exists now only in Pakistan and Afghanistan whereas it was once in many countries including our own!
Because of Covid, we all are now completely aware of disease and what it is like to live with health issues hanging over us; the Club felt marking 24th October was even more significant this year!
Later this week, members will be planting purple crocus corms locally; purple is painted on the little finger of children once they have received their vaccine injections.
