Explore how creativity works in the brain at a new exhibition at Chapel Gallery, Ormskirk, which is running until 6 July.Super Brain explores the creative process adopted by 18 North West based artists and a selected group of young people, which expands on the current research by neuroscientists on how creativity happens in the brain. The featured artists and young people will show their ‘rich source of input’, working methods and final refinement of ideas. The exhibition is produced with funding from Arts Council England, and West Lancashire Borough Council Arts Development Service has been working with artist and curator Jack Doyle to bring the show to life. The 18 artists in the exhibition have studios across Lancashire in Chorley, Bolton, Bury, Salford, Manchester and Todmorden, and were specifically selected to illustrate artists at different stages of their careers, from current students and recent graduates to established artists.Jack is working with young people from The Birchwood Centre in Skelmersdale who are creating their own artwork to be exhibited in the exhibition. There are also opportunities for all who visit Super Brain to include their own thoughts and images in an ever expanding neural network!Manchester-based artist Jack, who was raised in Southport, works collaboratively with the public and schools to curate large scale art. He is a co-director of PS Mirabel, an artist led gallery in Manchester city centre.Jack said: “I have always been fascinated by how new ideas pop into your head. The current research by neuroscientists using MRI brain scans, showing how all parts of your brain are used in creativity, is particularly exciting.”John Harrison, the Borough Council Director of Development and Regeneration, said: "This sounds like a really exciting exhibition, so make sure you don't miss it!"The full list of artists involved is:Lubna Ali; Stephen Barr;Axel Bottenberg; Jack Brown; Ellis Edwards; Melissa Francesca Galley;Parham Ghalamdar;Rob Gittins;Marguerite Heywood; Vincent James; Christine Lawley;Joseph O’Rourke; John Powell-Jones; Rachel Pursglove;Arron Rawcliffe;Erin Sevink-Johnson;Arthur SimonsandSusan Williams.
