Burscough FC are gearing up for the 2021/22 season to kick off early with the opening round of fixtures taking place this weekend.
North West Counties League football is back this Saturday (July 31) with the Linnets drawing a short straw on the opening day.
They have been given on paper the most difficult possible start to the season against Macclesfield at Moss Rose; they'll enter the history books as the reformed Cheshire side’s first ever competitive opponents; Macclesfield are the pre-season favourites to win the division and are expected to have the backing of a 1,000 plus crowd on the day.
Burscough supporters can witness a first themselves on Tuesday night when the Linnets stage their first ever competitive game on their new Community Stadium, a Lancashire derby with Ashton Athletic the visitors, kick off 7.45pm.
Burscough have landed creative midfielder Vinny Bailey from Atherton Collieries.
