After five years on what was once one of the busiest streets in the town centre, a well known Ormskirk shop's closed.

QLocal received this statement from Louis Bowyer at Dove Mill which traded from Church Street: 'As highlighted in a customer notice displayed in the store, the company has decided not to renew its lease after five years trading in the town.

'Since the closure of Tesco, opposite the Dove Mill Outlet store, the company has seen a 40% drop in footfall coming to the top end of the town.

'The store will continue to trade out of its remaining lease period on market days only (Thursday & Saturdays), when there is visible higher footfall in the town.

'The shift to online shopping is now clearly evident, as the dovemill.co.uk website has continued to grow, year on year, and we send many parcels in and around the local Ormskirk area.

'The company has also just launched a new partnership with the Mail Shop (part of the Mail online newspaper) which will future our products in their Christmas supplement.

'Our local customers can continue to purchase from us online, we have the confidence they will continue to receive the same high level of customer service received in-store.

'There has been no job losses in light of the store closure, as all staff members have joined the online division.'

Customer Notice Re: Dove Mill Outlet Ormskirk

As of Thursday the 26th of October, Dove Mill Outlet Ormskirk will enter into an END OF LEASE closing down sale. The store will close on Saturday the 24th of February 2018, or sooner, depending on stock levels.

After five years trading in Ormskirk, the company has taken the decision not to renew the stores lease. We would like to thank all our customers for the support over the last five years.
