One of Ormskirk's largest care homes is dealing with an outbreak of scabies.

It's believed that just one elderly woman is affected by the skin condition but as a precaution visitors to Asmall Hall are being warned of the outbreak which is thought to have been discovered this weekend.

Scabies is a contagious skin condition caused by tiny mites that burrow into the skin; the main symptom is intense itching that's worse at night. It also causes a skin rash on areas where the mites have burrowed.
