This is the scene at a prime Ormskirk development site as a demolition crew moved onto the former Atkinson Kirby factory last week.
Yesterday morning, a security man was double checking the locks and concrete filled large metal boxes at the entrance in the light of the travellers move into town and over the next few weeks it looks like the lucrative Burscough Road site will be razed to the ground with the big question - what next?
Asda was miffed to say the least after being denied permission to open a new store at the old Focus DIY store because of a bizarre 'non food' covenant and there have been persistent rumours it's still keen to move into Ormskirk.
Another is that the site will be earmarked for starter homes - in either case there will be a need for extensive public consultation.
