Police have launched a witness appeal following a serious RTA near Ormskirk at lunchtime.
Officers attended the busy Scarth Hill Lane junction at around 1.40pm to reports of a collision between a car and motorbike.
The male motorbike rider was taken to hospital with serious injuries; the Air Ambulance attended with the road closed until around 4pm while the emergency services attended the incident.
From the LFRS: At 1:32pm, two fire engines from Ormskirk and Skelmersdale attended an incident on Scarth Hill Lane, Ormskirk involving a car and motorcycle. Firefighters used Holmatro cutting equipment and a trauma kit to extricate one casualty from the car who was then transferred to hospital by ambulance. One further casualty from the motorcycle was transferred to hospital by air ambulance. Crews were at the scene for two hours.
Anyone who witnessed the collision is asked to contact 101 quoting log reference 0845 of today's date, 18/5/2021.
