Following news that the RMT has announced further strikes on the Merseyrail network every Saturday from 2 November to 28 December inclusive, a Merseyrail spokesperson said:

“We are extremely disappointed that the recent exploratory technical workshops between the RMT, ourselves and Merseytravel have resulted in the announcement of further strike action.

“It is especially disappointing given that there is now a guarantee of a guard on every new train with a safety critical role and that we were so close to an agreement to end this dispute.

“Our priority now is to run the best possible service on the upcoming strike days and communicate the arrangements with our passengers as soon as possible.”

Do wonder what the problem is, that necessitates all those strikes?

The striking staff must be already VERY well paid to afford to take 9 days off work leading upto and including Xmas!

Seeing as these RMT members have presumably got jobs for life, I can only assume that they are old school Militant Tendency types and know they can push it as far as they like with no comebacks.

Just a foretaste of what life would be like under a Corbyn led Government.

    A truly silly comment.

It would be good to hear the other side of this as going on strike certainly hits them in the pocket.

It does remind us of a past that Corbyn and his backers wants to bring back.

In July 2015, the RMT endorsed Jeremy Corbyn's campaign in the Labour leadership.

    Corbyn backs this action.

Of course Corbyn backs this action, he does whatever his paymasters tell him. The interesting thing to note is, that it will be the drivers who end up paying for the Union official’s inflated egos.
