Looking forward to this week's Champ?
You'll have to make do with 'reading' it online or via its FB page: https://en-gb.facebook.com/ChampionNewspapers/ where reporter Danielle Thompson made her screen debut earlier today.

It's dead. I receive it in the post and put it straight in the recycling bin. The news written in the local papers is 3 or more days behind the local news online.
I wish that Qlocal would pick up their game, we all know the other site has to be taken with a pinch of salt, it's time for Qlocal to shine. RovingEye please take note.

It's all about advertising though, isn't it? You can get news 24/7 on the TV and internet, and local 'news' tends to be pretty dull.
Now is probably the worst time for many years to try and promote a local business - it's probably shut anyway, and if it's non-essential then people aren't supposed to visit it.
To be fair, and setting the current virus crisis aside, I'm surprised that papers like The Champion have survived so long.
I agree that a vibrant, topical local website would be good, but it would still heavily rely on advertising.

If posters want more update and relevant news on the site then you need to make the site aware of items, larger sites such as the newspapers and BBC gets with much higher resources often hear about things that are relevant to Southport as well as Liverpool, Manchester or Preston, if you spot things use the link and send in a link and help make the site flourish.

The OTS site has lots of advertisers, I doubt if any who have any sense will keep renewing. They sign up on a STO and forget about it. I look after advertising for a few unrelated businesses and all are cancelling right now, it is a waste of money.

The OTS site is a nightmare for adverts. I read an article then scrolled down to look at readers comments. Must’ve been scrolling for a good 5 minutes. The adverts just kept on coming and coming. I gave up and removed the site from my bookmarks. Cba.

It appears he's removed the ability to leave comments on his site. Probably because of the number of negative comments about his incompetent reporting style and the use of the words "horror" and "chaos" in almost every headline.
He's very amateurish with a limited vocabulary.
