Those seeking safety in UK
The UK has a large number of people who come to the UK for safety from the conflicts in their own country. The UK houses and feeds these people who are almost entirely young men.
These young men spend many months waiting around in confined spaces to hear if they have been granted asylum or not. Even when they are granted asylum they are not allowed to work, not allowed to travel and they are paid welfare benefits.
Do you think it would be far more beneficial to these people if they were conscripted into the British Army and trained to fight so that they could help their families back in their own country - or even fight for the UK if the case was to be? They would still have housing and food. Considering that the countries that these people come from are always in conflict - I think it would give them great pride and help them enormously.

Your post starts off with an illogical premise;
The UK has a large number of people who come to the UK for safety from the conflicts in their own country.
they don't, none of our neighbours have significant conflict to escape from. They come out of choice for our country bypassing places of safety and fine I don't blame them we have a good country.
Conscripting these people would present a significant risk.

In some cases it might, in others not. But you have to be super-fit to cut it in the Army. More than a few would fail to make it through the rigorous induction process.....E.g. 'yomping' many miles with a heavy pack at the required speed is not for the faint-hearted!

Many wouldn't hack the basic training course , never mind the ongoing training.

Train them to fight and send them back to continue wars that will create even more refugees? Genius.

As much as I hate to say it, said raises an interesting issue.
Should refugees in return for access to our welfare system be asked to perform a civil service?
As long as its not inhumane, degrading etc it might be of benefit especially in terms of the general population accepting them.
It could be said that all British nationals perform a civil duty by paying paying taxes which gives them the right to access the welfare system. Should illegal immigrants be asked to do something beneficial to the country in return?

Illegals should be returned to where they came from and quickly as a deterrent.
Conscription / Forced Labour will not work, countries that have conscription usually have two armies, one of numbers which are the conscripts and the proper army who are trained.

Access to the welfare system isn't based on paying taxes.
Low earners and non-workers don't pay income tax although they do pay VAT on many things they buy - but then so do asylum seekers.
Asylum seekers are not illegal immigrants.

Depends on the individual circumstances.....Those hiding in trucks/using rubber boats, etc do enter the UK by illegal means. Yes, some will eventually be granted asylum, assuming that they qualify. However, others will be found to be nothing more than economic migrants. They may subsequently abscond and join the 'unofficial' labour market - as 'illegals'. Employing one risks receiving a pretty heavy fine.

Someone mentioned in response to this thread - that many of the Asylum seekers are here in the UK to ESCAPE conscription in their home country where it is law. That is the reason why so many of them are young men, and if they return to their own country, they will be punished for going AWOL.
In which case - surely it would be better if conscription was brought in for them in the UK.

Conscripts are a liability at the best of times, returning them promptly is the only solution that will work. once word gets around that that there is a chance they will be sent back they will look for other destinations rather than take a chance of being returned penniless.

How many of these young men are terrorists or terrorists cells infiltrating our borders under the guise of migrants fleeing from tyranny.
I guess if we put them in the army and give em a machine gun we will find out.

I would guess that very few are terrorists as most of the perpetrators of terrorist incidents are home grown.
