    The pressure’s mounting.

Just as the stories about cronyism and lying have started to fade, we now have have tales about shady funding of flat refurbishments and an alleged quote about how our Prime Minister was prepared to let ‘the bodies pile high’ rather than enter a third lock down. Is it time for him to go? And let’s have no gas lighting please from the usual suspects.

No idea what 'gas lighting' is but I can recognize desperation when I see it.
It's really quite pathetic that HM's opposition - the same opposition that lags so lamentably in the polls - the same opposition roundly rejected by the electorate last December, has nothing more than idle tittle tattle and scuttlebut with which to challenge HMG.

I think what strikes me most is the mealy mouthed and oily manner in which the opposition has gone about their business. Also - the subject matter chosen by the opposition leadership, on which to attack the government, gives me serious cause for concern re the tactical nouse and expertise shown.
Take the Dyson tax episode - that was laughable at best. The opposition haven't learned that taking one or more sentences out of a conversation or report and, trying to make more of it than there is, no longer fools the electorate. On the contrary, simply having shadow spokespersons constantly repeating their learned mantras (often when having nothing to do with the question being asked) merely makes them look foolish.
They also seem unable to resist smirking or, condescendingly chuckling, when answering questions. Lammy, Raynor and Ashworth are some of the worst offenders.
I saw Raynor on Andrew Marr and she could barely utter a coherent sentence in context nor, answer the questions asked, so keen was she to repeat over and over again the catchy little mantras she'd been coached to constantly bleat.
Deputy Prime Minister material? Don't make me laugh!

So - if this is the best that HM's Opposition can do and muster then, most emphatically - NO - Boris has absolutely nothing to fear from that inept shower!

The problem with this particular story is that is suspected Cummings started it. This is the guy that said he was driving around Barnard Castle because his eyesight was bothering him and he needed to check......took his wife and child with him?

Between general elections there is no mechanism for citizens /voters to eject a PM.

What constitutes "gas lighting " in this context?
You're inviting people to ignore your thread.

The scuttlebutt originates within government circles. Johnson stands accused of briefing against Dominic Cummings. He appears to be adrift.

Tory supporting voters are exceedingly sensitive to accusations of sleaze! Why would that be?

This is what I hate about the press/news media and why I stopped listening to anything other than headlines. When they say 'pressure is mounting' what they really mean is 'we have a story and we won't let go of it until something more interesting comes along'. So-called commentators pile in on either side, party affiliations on full throttle and very little attempt at reason/common sense.
I'd like to see all allegations of any sort diverted straight away to an independent panel who can report within a stipulated time scale on whether any rules were breached, conflict of interest etc. Suitable actions can then follow.
Then the media can get back to reporting news rather than creating it and politicians can get on with discussions about policies.

As for this latest 'outrage' it is after all only words. Bodies did not in fact pile up in their thousands It was a rather too colourful expression of frustration from a t*t who uses hyperbole and lacks candour.
He's not my idea of a politician. If I had been a member of the Conservative Party I would never have voted for him as leader. But he's the one we've got at the moment and the opposition from within and without his party should get down to some serious politicianing rather than gossiping and scandalmongering.

I love the way opposition parties are worried about how are taxes are spent until it comes to calling for public enquiries on Boris and the Tories.

Ah, the usual Daily Mail comments section echo chamber.

Rather than discuss the allegations, the knee-jerk reaction is to attack the opposition. Useless opposition, I agree, but (as usual) what on earth has it to do with the opposition? Other than their job is to scrutinise the government? I mean, moan if they don't do it, not if they do.

Downing Street mole, Cummings, whoever, leaks to the press. Allegations worth investigation. Possible breach of electoral law. Bodies piling up? Well, they did. And even more so after 'fighting the experts to save Christmas'. And nobody in this blue-rinse forum thinks it's worth a mention?

5 more posts and it'll be Corbyn, Guido Fawkes and end of discussion.

As usual. Party before country. Ignore the thousands of unnecessary deaths, the herd immunity. Whatabout. Whatabout.

As they say on 'Dragon's Den', I'm out.

It is extremely rare for the party in opposition to call a serving PM a liar.
    Better have proof.

Apparently there witnesses to the pile the bodies up comment who are prepared to to swear under oath, the refurb bill seems to be getting passed around like a children's party game of pass the parcel, the more it goes round the more knots he is going to get tied up in.
Downing St are now 'failing to deny' both allegations.
It's not the opposition that he needs to fear it's his 'friends ' on the benches behind him.

The point is Toodles they are just that - allegations and, when viewed dispassionately, amount to the square root of bugger all when viewed against the real and prescient issues faced by the country.
No one cares! Maybe that's a good thing if it means people can 'get on with it' rather than spend endless wasted hours dealing with drivel.

My point remains - if that's the best HM'S opposition can drum up then we're stuffed. The opposition at the moment makes Geoffrey Howe, (Thatcher's 'savaged by a dead sheep'), look like the alpha male in the hardest pride of lions in Africa!
