Some Find These Confusing
The USA is almost 4000 times the size of the UK - that is to say that the land area of the UK could fit in the land area of the USA, 4000 times.
In the UK we have 25000 road roundabouts, yet in the USA, they have just 4000 over that vast land area. Most drivers are totally unfamiliar with them
So just watch this video of a new roundabout which has recently been installed in the USA:

Does anyone know in which country roundabouts originated from?

Just found this rather amusing anecdote.
Why there aren't more roundabouts in the United States.
This type of intersection largely failed in the United States due to one terrible error: Instead of traffic already in the circle having the right-of-way, the cars entering the roundabout had the right-of-way.

Roundabouts have some virtues. However, their utility diminishes if the volume of traffic through a junction becomes too great. Traffic volume must be commensurate with the size of the roundabout. The proliferation of roundabouts especially in post war New Towns
…suggests planners had no idea of future traffic volumes!

No it isn't. It's 40 times bigger.
It's no wonder people could be confused by your false statements, and a good reason why you ought to stop making them.
USA 9,834,000 square KM
UK 242,495 square KM
It's approx 4000% bigger which means it is approx 40 times bigger. Perhaps it's you that is confused.

You are so rude! You are not a Southport person, politeness is lost on people like you. So I missed the percentage out - so what? The focus of the thread was the amusing take on a new roundabout. So get your comfort blanket out and go and sob!

As you’re someone who is obviously benefiting from care in the community, I’m surprised you’re not aware that asylums are a thing of the past old bean.

It's a little more than missing the % sign out the first time, isn't it? As evidenced from your statement below, you didn't understand that being 4,000% larger meant that the UK could fit in the US land area 40 times. No % sign was necessary here, but you claimed that it would fit in 4,000 times.

This is not the first time Said has made a big error with numercal indicators. My grasp of number is shaky too so I always double check. If at work I have to write or speak about something that involves stats or percentages I will even get a Math professional to listen to me first.
So, Said! Don't protest. Listen and learn!
